Sharing Food With Codot
I just realized if mangoes in my garden already big and ripe. Perhaps, because I was too busy with my work, so, never had time to check it out. Finally, my neighbors warned "Your mangoes already ripe and codot ate it" (codot : javanese for flying fox). The risk... Codot has a high skill in recognizing ripe fruit, so if you late to realize, they will attack your mangoes without worries had stomach ache.
I saw my mangoes was perforated. I was thinking, why they are never focus when ate the mangoes? little bite in here and then moved to another one, gave another little bite. Hey... Ek, they are animals, free and independent. There are no rules and manners as a standard in their behavior. Oh... if i could communicate with them like King Salomon, I will ask them to ate that's mangoes one by one.
When I was young, eat mangoes after eaten by flying fox "It's doesn't matter". Clean the mangoes and removing part that have been bitten (Oh ... this is bad). But now... don't try this at home! we never know what the virus carried by flying fox. Some articles said, flying fox spread virus like Lyssavirus and some deadly viruses such as rabies.
But after all this time, I never had intention of preventing them eating my mangoes. They are just animals, they need eat something to keep their lives. Because, after i counted, not all my mango broken, not more than 10%. I can still eat mangoes that they do not eat. And i believe, to make life on earth remains standing, we must share food with another creatures.
