Vacation To Sugar Industry Of Glenmore

The plantation gate

In August of this year, BUMN minister has inaugurated a sugar factory in Glenmore, Banyuwangi Regency, East Java, Indonesia. And since the first mill in August 2016, the factory has been operating. It was a biggest industry in my regency, so I took a time to visited the Area. I was curious the circumstances surrounding the factory and plantation. Due to the opening of this factory has become major topic for community lately.

The road that divide plantation

The Sugar Factory located in plantation of PT. Perkebunan Nusantara XII and XI Glenmore District, about two hours front Banyuwangi City and Blimbing Sari Airport. We can use public transportation like Train and Bus to go to location, but I suggest a private or rent transportation (car or motorbike) for more flexibility.

The Sugar Factory

The Sugar Factory Of Glenmore has been built 2012 in an area of 29 hectares. Manage by PT. Industri Gula Glenmore (IGG), a consortium of  PT. Perkebunan Nusantara XII and XI. It was a modern factory that produced Premium Crystal Sugar, also integrated with derived products that utilize sugarcane waste. Including electricity, organic fertilizers and animal feeds. Capacity of the factory was 6000 tth (tons of cane per day).

The Sugar Factory activities : Trucks carrying sugarcane in to the plant

At the site of more 7000 hectares we can enjoy the scenery and the plantation activity but we can not get through to sugar factory (only employees are permitted, visitor only see factory from outside). We can drive through the main road that divide the estate to explore the plantation. If we love photography some dramatic spot was good for photograph object or background if we do selfie.

One shot of plantation view

In the plantation area there is also a interesting tourist site that we can explore, I will post about the site soon
